Here’s some information you should know about being a guest on
WILI’s Wayne Norman Show
COVID-19 UPDATE: Some of our morning show guest interviews are now being done by phone. Please dial 860-456-1400 a few minutes before your scheduled time. Please use a land-line (not a cell phone) if you have that option—for better audio quality. If you have any changes—or updates—please email Wayne at wayne@wili.com .
We incorporate the chat (“interview” seems too formal!) within our normal morning show features–news, sports, and weather. So at the top and bottom of the hour we take 15-minute breaks. However most people seem to enjoy watching the behind-the-scenes activity during those times.
Most guests say afterwards they felt very comfortable. I don’t do a Mike Wallace-style confrontational line of questioning, or a Barbara Walters (“if you were a tree, what kind would you be?”). But I do like to find out what makes you tick–where you came from, how you got started in this field, who is affected, how things have changed, and what does the future hold. It’s more like a conversation we might have if we met at the beach or a party.
It would help if you provided some paperwork in advance–either some questions and topics, or a flyer or newspaper article, which can give me some direction and background. These can be sent in advance (email wayne @ wili.com or snail mail 720 Main Street, Willimantic 06226), or brought with you. I LOVE anecdotes and stories about your field, so if you have good ones, be sure I know to ask. Please don’t think of the great story on your drive home.
Most of my morning show interviews are posted on our website the same day and can be heard on any PC or phone in the world. Interviews promoting specific events that have since passed tend to be taken off. The interviews are linked on the top left of our homepage (“PODCASTS”), Or by clicking here: https://www.wili.com/wayne-norman-interviews/
WILI’s programming is heard on 1400-AM, and is also simulcast on 95.3 FM, which has excellent fidelity.
We have wifi in the studio, so if you like you can bring your laptop and check your email or surf during our break times.

For directions to our studios, click here. We are on the first floor of a modern, 4-story brick building on the south side of Main Street, about 1/4 mile west of the famous “frog bridge.” Park in front of the building on the Main Street side, or behind the building on Riverside Drive.
The best way to enter the building is via the east-facing downstairs entrance, nearest the footbridge, NOT the upper doors which face Main Street. Ring the doorbell and we’ll buzz you in.
We usually have coffee and tea, and always have spring water.
